My research project, part of the TRANSMIC project, is about the social security of third-country nationals in the European Union. As the situation of all third-country nationals with regards to social security has not been harmonised yet at the European Union level, my research project specifically focuses on a comparative legal analysis of their social security status in Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Belgium. Those EU Member States mostly deal with social security of third-country nationals via bilateral agreements. In my research project, I examine the bilateral agreements that those EU Member States have with India and with Turkey. The comparative legal analysis of the different systems of co-ordination of social security aims at mapping the several instruments at the disposal of third-country nationals working in an EU Member State. After the mapping of the different instruments, the end product of the research project is to present an alternative solution to improve the circulation of the third-country workers in the European Union.
