Abstract:
The accession of EU in the UN CRPD has triggered a big discussion on the grounds of the interaction of EU law with the UN CRPD, on how the EU law will incorporate the Convention and what would be the result of this accession in terms of the implementation of EU law in the State parties. Therefore, this project offers me the opportunity to discuss all these issues under the scope of accessibility. Thus, fundamentally I will concern myself with the obligations generated by accessibility, as they are broadly defined by the Convention (UN CRPD), which are introduced by the accession of EU in the UN CRPD. For the purposes of the research, I would divide the research in two parts. In the first part I would address the issue of the nature of the obligations under article 9 UN CRPD, in relation to accessibility and the question that I will attempt to answer will be: What is the nature of the obligations introduced on article 9 UN CRPD, in regard to accessibility. In the second part, I would discuss how EU competences interact with the UN CRPD on the grounds of accessibility, in what extent the EU current instruments meet the obligations of article 9 UN CRPD and what is the scope of EU competence to act with connection to meeting any unregulated obligations, which flow from this article.
