Over the last decade, the European Courts have increasingly conducted intensive reviews in the area of risk regulation. As a result, it raised the questions how intensive the European Courts shall review science-based measures and whether the existing regimes provided by the procedures of the European Courts are sufficient to assist the Courts to render informed decisions. The proposal will investigate what the standard of review the European Courts have applied when examining science-based measures by examing the relevant cases of the Courts and explore which solutions can be used to inform the Courts to make better decisions, by comparing the legal tools provided by the relevant international treaties and national laws.
