Abstract:
The research will analyse international legal issues about establishment and management of MPAs in ABNJ. Regarding establishment, it will focus on what procedures are called for to establish MPAs in ABNJ and whether these MPAs designated by a limited number of states have third party effects. Regarding management, it will answer how should the international legal regimes that stipulate regulatory measures of MPAs in ABNJ deal with the activities of third states. The outcomes are intended to contribute to the consideration on what might be future approaches for China in designating and managing MPAs in ABNJ?
