Abstract:
Cross-border labour mobility is high on the agenda of the European Union as well as national and regional governing bodies. Driven by this political force and the requirements for a well-functioning Euregional labour market in the Dutch-German border region, labour market intermediaries (LMI) are expanding their perspective from a national one to a cross-border perspective. Guided by Active Labour Market Programmes (ALMPs), these LMIs along the border are actively matching candidates to positions across the border. Extant literature on ALMP mainly focusses on national programs, furhtermore, little research is done into the role of the LMI, especially in cross-border employment services. The question this research project asks is: How do LMIs in the Dutch-German Border region facilitate cross-border job placements and thus contribute to cross-border labour market?
