Abstract:
This research aims to explore the effectiveness and acceptability of personalization of privacy policies and privacy settings by social media users in China, the EU, and the U.S. Experiments will be conducted on whether personalization of privacy policies will enhance social media users understanding of privacy policies and enhance privacy-related behaviors. Qualitative methodologies will be used to understand stakeholders perceptions on personalization in privacy protection. A cross-cultural comparison will be made, and discussions will be held on whether personalization is feasible in different legal contexts of China, the EU, and the U.S.
