Abstract:

My research will focus on the evolving role of banks in the pursuit of climate sustainability, particularly in light of emerging due diligence obligations under EU and international law and the parallel political debates on deregulation to increase competitiveness. I aim to assess how the unique position of bankswhose contribution to climate impacts is largely indirect but potentially far-reachingrequires a distinct regulatory approach, different from that applicable to other private actors.
